Parks and Recreation

The city is blessed with a wonderful series of parks filled with athletic fields, playground equipment and picnic shelters.
Youth football games at Galemore Park are always a family event.
  • Hillhouse Park and A.D. Simpson Park have baseball and softball fields for all age groups.
  • Rolwing Park has four tennis courts plus picnic shelters and a playground.
  • Hequembourg Park has a beautiful duck pond where children can also fish.
  • Whipple Park has a fish pond for all ages.

There are youth baseball and softball leagues, a youth football league, and a youth basketball program.

Charleston is a beautiful town to walk in and the roads outside of town are very good for bicycling.
