The City of Charleston is accepting applications for two positions in our Public Works Department. These are full-time positions as water/wastewater operator and public works maintenance workers.
Job duties consist of maintenance and repair of city streets, water/wastewater distribution system, equipment, vehicles, and any other public works facilities as needed.
Expectations for the job include working in all types of weather conditions, walking long distances, lifting, climbing, twisting, etc. and following all safety rules and regulations set by the city, state, and federal government.
A High School diploma or GED is required. One year of experience in public works, water/wastewater industry, construction, or continuing education in job skills is preferred, but not required.
