Revised Flood Maps

The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) is in the process of revising flood maps for Mississippi County. New technology provides the ability to calculate elevations and water flow much better than the old 1970's flood maps. The preliminary revisions show a portion of the southern part of Charleston no in a 100 year flood plain where it was not in the flood plain at all in the old maps. SEMA is now seeking public input on things they may have missed which impact water flow.
